The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens with constellations, 1 By the Promised Day! 2 and [of] Him who witnesses [all,] and [of] that unto which witness is borne [by Him]! 3 destroyed were the people of the trench, 4 the fire with its fuel, 5 As they sat around it 6 And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). 7 They took revenge on them only because they believed in the All-mighty, the Al-laudable, 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 10 Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. 11 Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe. 12 It is verily He who initiates and repeats. 13 He is the All-forgiving, the Most Loving One, 14 Honorable Owner of the Throne, 15 Who does as He pleases. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 [Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 but all the while God encompasses them [with His knowledge and might] without their being aware of it. 20 This is indeed the glorious Qur'an 21 (Preserved) on the guarded tablet. 22
