The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
