The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
