And the dwellers of the Rock certainly rejected the apostles; 80 We also gave them Our Signs, yet they turned away from them. 81 They used to hew out houses from the mountains and lived in security. 82 and the Cry seized them in the morning; 83 and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired. 84 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness. 85 Indeed your Lord only is the Great Creator, the All Knowing. 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 Do not stretch your eyes to that We have given pairs of them to enjoy, nor sorrow for them, and lower your wing to the believers. 88 And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" - 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 So by your Lord, We will surely question them all 92 About what they used to do. 93 So shout that thou art commanded and turn thou away from the idolaters. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know. 96 And indeed We know that you are disheartened by their speech. 97 But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration. 98 And go on worshipping your Lord till the certainty (of death) comes upon you. 99

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
