The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
