Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
