The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
