Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
