۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
