The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 then came down close 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
