Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
