The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
