And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
