The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
