The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
