The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
