Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Or do their intellects bid them do this? Or are they an insolent people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 Let them produce a scripture like it, if what they say is true. 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 36 Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Or does Allah have daughters whereas you have sons? 39 Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Or do they have a god apart from God? He is too exalted for what they associate with Him! 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
