Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 And you are lost in play! 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
