The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a mighty Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
