Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
