The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 They do not expect any reward 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
