The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the lofty roof. 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
