Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said: "O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He [Musa (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 And the magicians flung themselves prostrate. 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said, 'Surely unto our Lord we are turning. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
