The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
