The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
