The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud, 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
