The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day in splendour 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
