Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every slanderer, defamer, 1 who amasses wealth, counting it over, 2 thinking his wealth will render him immortal! 3 Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! 4 and what shall teach thee what is the Crusher; 5 (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, 6 to penetrate into the hearts. 7 (And) vaults them over 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

True are the words of God the Almighty.
