The Thamud belied the sent ones 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 143 So fear God and follow me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 In gardens and fountains, 147 And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me, 150 And do not obey the bidding of the extravagant, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 But they hamstrung her; and on the morrow were repentant, 157 and the chastisement seized them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 159

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
