۞ Say: 'O my people who have been prodigal against yourselves, do not despair of God's mercy; surely God forgives sins altogether; surely He is the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate. 53 And return to your Lord time after time and submit to Him before there comes to you the punishment, then you shall not be helped. 54 And follow the best that has been revealed to you from your Lord before there comes to you the punishment all of a sudden while you do not even perceive; 55 Lest a soul should say: O woe to me! for what I fell short of my duty to Allah, and most surely I was of those who laughed to scorn; 56 Or, lest it should say: 'If Allah had only guided me I would have been one of the cautious' 57 "Or (lest) it should say when it (actually) sees the penalty: 'If only I had another chance, I should certainly be among those who do good!' 58 [But God will reply:] "Yea, indeed! My messages did come unto thee; but thou gavest them the lie, and wert filled with false pride, and wert among those who deny the truth!" 59 On the Day of Judgment you will see the faces of those who had invented falsehood against God blackened. Is not hell the dwelling of the arrogant ones? 60 God would rescue those who fear Him (and guide them) to places of safety. Neither will evil touch them nor regret. 61 God is the Creator and Guardian of all things. 62 His are the treasures of the heavens and the earth; and (as for) those who disbelieve in the communications of Allah, these it is that are the losers. 63
