And the disbelievers said regarding the Muslims, “If there were any good in it, the Muslims would not have surpassed us in achieving it!” and since they did not receive guidance with it, they will now say, “This is an old slander.” 11 And before it there hath been the Book of Musa, a guide and a mercy. And this is a Book confirming it, in Arabic speech, that it may warn those who have done wrong and as glad tidings unto the well-doers. 12 Surely for those who say, "God is our Lord," and then remain firm, there is no fear or regret. 13 Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do. 14 And We have enjoined upon man kindness unto the parents: with hardship his mother beareth him and with hardship she bringeth him forth, and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months, until, when he attaineth his full strength and attaineth the age of forty years, he saith: my Lord! grant me that I may give thanks for the favour wherewith. Thou hast favoured me and my parents and that I may work righteously such as Thou mayest approve; and be Thou good unto me in my progeny, verily I have turned unto Thee repentant, and verily I am of those who submit. 15 We accept from such people the best of what they do and We overlook their bad deeds. They will be among the people of Paradise -- this is a true promise that has been given to them. 16 But he who says to his father and his mother, 'Fie upon you! Do you promise me that I shall be brought forth, when already generations have passed away before me?' while they call upon God for succour -- 'Woe upon thee! Believe; surely God's promise is true'; then he says, 'This is naught but the fairy-tales of the ancients' -- 17 It is [such as] these upon whom the sentence [of doom] will fall due, together with the [other sinful] communities of invisible beings and humans that have passed away before their time. Verily, they will be lost: 18 All shall have their degrees, according to what they have wrought, and that He may pay them in full for their works, and they not being wronged. 19 Upon the day when the unbelievers are exposed to the Fire: 'You dissipated your good things in your present life, and you took your enjoyment in them; therefore today you shall be recompensed with the chastisement of humiliation for that you waxed proud in the earth without right, and for your ungodliness. 20
