Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
