The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
