I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
