The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this is a decisive word 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite - give them some time. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
