The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
