Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 to be a herald of glad tidings as well as a warning. And yet, [whenever this divine writ is offered to men,] most of them turn away, so that they cannot hear [its message]; 4 And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)." 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
