In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 separating one from another, 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you of a mean water, 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate! 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 Set We not therein soaring mountains? Sated you with sweetest water? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
