The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
