He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
