The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 for a great Day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
