۞ And to 'Ad We sent forth their brother Hud. He said: 'O my people! Serve Allah; you have no other god than Him. Will you, then, not avoid evil?' 65 The chiefs of those who disbelived among his people said: verily we see thee in folly, and verily we deem thee to be of the liars. 66 He said: "O my people! I am no imbecile, but (I am) a messenger from the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds! 67 I bring to you the messages of my Lord. I am your sincere friend. 68 What, do you wonder that a reminder from your Lord should come to you by the lips of a man from among you? That he may warn you; and remember when He appointed you as successors after the people of Noah, and increased you in stature broadly; remember God's bounties; haply you will prosper.' 69 They said: 'Have you come to us in order that we worship Allah alone and renounce that which our fathers worshipped? Bring down that with which you threaten us if you are from the truthful! 70 (Hud) said: "Torment and wrath have already fallen on you from your Lord. Dispute you with me over names which you have named - you and your fathers, with no authority from Allah? Then wait, I am with you among those who wait." 71 Then We delivered him and those with him by a mercy from Us, and We utterly cut off those who belied Our signs, and would not be believers. 72
