And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
