Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A large group from the earlier generations. 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say: 'The ancients, and the later folk 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74
