Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 "which guides to the Right Way; so we have come to believe in it, and we will not associate aught with Our Lord in His Divinity”; 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 ‘Whereas we thought that men and jinns would never fabricate a lie against Allah!’ 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course. 14 but those who deviated from the Truth, will be the fuel for Hell.” 15 And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. 16 So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: 17 The places of worship belong to God; so call not, along with God, upon anyone. 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
