20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god except Him. Take Him for your Guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
