He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
