The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
