He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
