The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 When whither go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
